Festive Tidings!
What a corona coaster 2020 has been. I am reminded of the children's book by Julia Donaldson, "A Squash and a Squeeze" and think about this period of restriction and how huge our parties will be when we're finally allowed out out!
Yoga It will be no surprise to anyone that classes are likely to be online only as we move into the New Year. Please keep coming with your requests. Recently, we have focused on lower backs for post-hockey match recovery, wrists to combat the extra strain from home-working, and shoulder stands as a peak pose request. And of course, seasonal themes, as we always feel better when we connect to the cyclical elements of nature - this week, I've been guiding flows for digestion to combat xmas eating, and extended guided relaxation with singing bowls to rejuvenate us in the darkest hours of the year. Weekly recordings are sent out to everyone who signs up to a class, and are available to buy - just get in touch. Would you like one over Xmas? Christmas Raffle and Summit Recordings I feel super energised and inspired by the TeenYoga Summit - the lineup was truly awe-inspiring with internationally renowned yoga teachers, a professor from the University of Cambridge, the leading yoga researcher from India and more! There was an incredible connection online, a coming together of fantastic school teachers, yoga teachers, therapists, youth workers, parents and more. From an idea in October to fruition in December, I raised over £4,500 for the Teen Yoga Foundation! Anyone who works with young people is welcome to join our community. It's not too late to access any of the recordings, simply Donate to the Teen Yoga Foundation and click on Summit. Full details of the Summit and how to donate can be found on https://teenyoga.com. My favourite sessions were Lisa Kaley-Isley's showcase, "Cultivating Strength and Freedom in Challenging Times", Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, "Mental Health and the Menstrual Cycle", Sarah Ramsden's "Yoga for Young Athletes" and Sarah-Jane Blakemore, "The Mysterious Workings of the Teenage Brain". The Christmas Raffle will be drawn at 6pm on 22 December on the TeenYoga Facebook Page. There are over 75 prizes, which means you have a less than 1 in 3 chance of winning! And of course, the Teen Panel. Thank you so so much to Anabel, Rosy, Amy and Eloise who made a fantastic video of why they started yoga and what they love about it. One teen, Nomusa from Soweto, commented on how inspiring the Teen Panel was, and how "this has been the best two hours of my life!"
